Deerwood Bank Welcomes Sean Poppen as Vice President of Business Banking for St. Michael Market

St. Michael, MN – Deerwood Bank is pleased to announce the addition of Sean Poppen as Vice President of Business Banking at its St. Michael location. With more than 20 years of experience in financial services, sales leadership, and business development, Poppen brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to helping local businesses grow and succeed.

Born and raised in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Poppen currently resides in Albertville with his family. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of leadership positions across the banking and financial services industry, giving him a broad perspective on the unique challenges and opportunities businesses face. His background includes business banking, payment solutions, commercial lending, and business development roles with several major financial institutions.

Poppen has developed a reputation for building strong relationships and serving as a trusted advisor to business owners throughout the Twin Cities. He has extensive experience working with medical, dental, and veterinary practices, as well as organizations in the hospitality and landscape industries. His diverse banking background allows him to approach client relationships with a comprehensive understanding of both personal and business financing needs.

“I am excited to be able to work closely my community, while still supporting my clients and partners throughout the greater twin cities.” said Poppen.

As an Albertville resident, Poppen is especially excited about serving businesses closer to home while maintaining his extensive network throughout the region. He is passionate about connecting business leaders, supporting local organizations, and fostering long-term partnerships that strengthen communities.

Nick Shultz, St. Michael Market President, shared his enthusiasm about Poppen joining the team. “Sean’s extensive experience, industry knowledge, and strong network throughout the Twin Cities make him an outstanding addition to Deerwood Bank,” said Nick. “His relationship-focused approach and commitment to supporting businesses align perfectly with our values, and we are excited to see the impact he will make in the St. Michael market and beyond.”

Outside of work, Poppen enjoys coaching youth baseball, basketball, and football, while also cheering on his daughters in gymnastics and swimming. He is an active volunteer with organizations including Rogers Otsego Youth Baseball Association, Elk River Flag Football, Second Harvest Heartland, and Habitat for Humanity. Poppen has dedicated his time to coaching youth sports for more than three years and regularly organizes volunteer teams to give back to the community he was raised in.

Deerwood Bank is proud to welcome Sean Poppen to its growing team of banking professionals and looks forward to the expertise, leadership, and community-focused approach he brings to the organization.
