4 Money Experts You Need to be Following

4 Money Experts You Need to be Following

In a world full of content and media, it is easy to feel overwhelmed with the amount of information that is being shoved at us at each moment of the day. With all this info, comes many people marketing themselves as “experts” of this or that. Spoiler alert: many of these so-called experts have little-to-no idea of what they are talking about. This is none more evident than in the finance and banking industry.

When researching strategies for your finances, it is easy to get caught up in misinformation and bad guidance, that is why I’ve decided to put together a list of 4 money experts that you need to be following.

Dave Ramsey

If you regularly follow Deerwood Bank’s content on social media or throughout our website, you had to know we were going to throw ol’ Dave in the mix of finance experts to brag about! Dave Ramsey is an award-winning author, a prominent YouTube personality, and host of the award-winning radio show “The Ramsey Show”. He has built his company, Ramsey Solutions, into one of the world’s leaders in digital financial education. While much of Dave’s content is focused on helping individuals and families work their way out of debt, he also covers other topics such as investment banking, retirement planning, and career advice.

Mark Zlatic, WhiteBoard Finance

Mark Zlatic and WhiteBoard Financing do exactly what their name would lead you to think… They discuss financial questions in detail by working them through on a whiteboard. This one is for those of you who are visual learners. Mark’s YouTube page is filled with a ton of videos in which he takes complex financial situations and breaks them down piece-by-piece until they are very easy to understand and digest. If YouTube isn’t your thing, don’t rule Mark out. His company has a TON of interesting blog articles on their website. Mark and WhiteBoard Finance have info that can help everyone – no matter the financial situation.

Erin Lowry

If you are on Twitter and are not following Broke Millennial ® (AKA Erin Lowry), stop what you are doing right now and go follow her. Not only is she hilarious, but she is offering the finance insight and guidance that so many millennials and Gen Z’ers need to hear. Through her Twitter account and blog, “The Broke Millennial Blog”, Lowry is able to dissect some of the most important finance decisions that every young person needs to make – including decisions that will help them make more money, get out of debt, and build up their savings.

Farnoosh Torabi

If you are not already aware of Farnoosh Torabi, it’s time for you to get acquainted. Farnoosh is the host of “So Money” one of the world’s most downloaded finance and money podcasts. In her podcast, Farnoosh covers things from personal finance to growing your business. Outside of her very successful podcast, Farnoosh has also written and published several award-winning finance books.

These four experts are who I like to engage with, but that doesn’t mean that these are the only four who know what they are talking about. If I can brag for a second, I’ll say that our bank is full of qualified and experienced bankers who are well-versed in many of these topics. But it doesn’t have to be us either. If you find an expert that you jive with – great. My only ask is that you thoroughly research them before you start taking their advice.

P.S. It seems like you like finance stuff… Take a look at this list of finance podcasts that you need to be listening to. You can thank us later. 🙂
